We would like to offer you the opportunity to audition for the Art in Motion School of Dance, Company Dance Team! Our Team of professionals are dedicated to sharing the art of dance through instruction, performance, and competition for children ages 5 and older.
Art in Motion is the competitive dance school of choice for families and their dancers because of AIM’s passion, values of positive self imagine, discipline, confidence, teamwork, child appropriate costuming & choreography and unwavering focus on the dancers.
AIM offers several team & class options from beginner to advanced to allow for dancers to grow at their own pace. Our Team truly values each of our dancers and families and we want nothing more for everyone involved to have fun and make memories they will forever hold onto. COMPANY INFORMATION
CHOREOGRAPHY CLASSES
Our Company Teams consist of up to six possible competitive teams in the genres of Jazz, Tap, Hip-Hop and Lyrical, Contemporary and Musical Theatre. These 30 min classes serve as your choreography class (learning routines) in which dancers & families can choose how many dances they would like their dancer to participate in based on financial and scheduling purposes.
BALLET CLASSES
In addition to your dancers choreography class(es), dancers are required to take a 60 min ballet class each week. This helps your dancer grow their technique for their choreography classes.
ACRO & TECHNIQUE CLASSES
Dancers also have the opportunity to add on additional acro & technique classes throughout the season to strengthen different areas of dance.
Touring Teams are required to take additional technique classes.
SCHEDULE
Yearly: Our season runs from July 5th, 2024 - May 18th, 2025. (All Touring Teams will have additional rehearsals in the month of June before Nationals.)
Weekly: Company Teams will usually be no more than two nights a week, unless you choose to do any add-on classes on another day. Touring Teams will be 3+ days a week. We try our best to accommodate dancers who are only in one class to have their Ballet Class and Competitive Routine class on the same evening. Mandatory Team Camp: Mon-Thurs during 1 week in the month of June.
REGIONAL TEAMS
We have three regional competitions, for our Regional Teams. Two are local (Areas of Dayton and Cincinnati typically) and one is within a three hour drive. (Columbus, Louisville & Indianapolis) Our competitions are in February, March and April.
NATIONAL TEAMS
In addition to the regional competitions, listed above, this team also competes at a National Level Competition. This requires more time commitment for classes, as there are requirements. This requires travel outside of regional areas. Touring Teams are not available for dancers who are new to the competition side of dance, but will be available the following year if that is of interest to you.
SOLO / DUET / TRIO
In order to participate in a solo/duet/trio you must have competed for a minimum of 2 years with Art in Motion as a new dancer. You must compete in a minimum of 2 group dances. These requests to do a solo/duet/trio are also at the discretion of myself, with opinions from my coaches/staff. Some dancers may not be ready to compete in a solo/duet/trio or an instructor's schedule will not allow the extra classes to be added on.
FUNDRAISING
Art in Motion Company Dancers will have opportunity to join our AIM Boosters club to participate in fundraisers throughout the year to offset their competition & travel expenses. Our AIM Boosters raised almost $14,000 and counting in 2023-2024 for those who participated. Some examples of past fundraisers have been selling tickets for gift card boards, quarter auction, recital boutique, candy bouquets, cookie dough and more.
AUDITIONS

1.) Fill out Audition Registration form
2.) Send your $15 fee per dancer to Venmo or PayPal (Contact us if you need this info).
3.) Practice your skills & choreography at home prior to auditions. Dancers to do not need to prepare anything of their own. The only things tested will be the list of skills and choreography from the studio.
This is new this year and will be released soon!
4.) Wear form fitting athletic clothing and secure hair out of the face
5.) Bring all dance shoes
6.) Bring a water bottle
7.) Arrive to Auditions 30 minutes before your dancers scheduled time to check in and pick up their audition number.
8.) Enjoy the process and HAVE FUN!!

Art in Motion School of Dance instructs students between from age 18 months through adult in various forms of dance and movement. We have both
